Whenever you are building an outfit you should always start with your shoes. You may ask, "Why should I start with my kick?" well shoes are often the cornerstone of the outfit and they can sometimes provide that extra flare in your outfit. Shoes help dictate the rest of your outfit. For example, you wouldn't wear a pair of YEEZY Desert Boots with a pair of shorts.
With that being said, the next step would be choosing the right pants to go with the shoes. Pants are also essential as the next step as you don't want your shoes to be too chunky for your pants. In addition, if you have your shoes picked that means you already know the colours of them; thus, making it that much easier to decide what pants go with or don't go with a specific shoe.
The next step is honestly the easiest to full-fill as shirts are the most common piece of clothing. When deciding on a top to wear always consider the subtle details of your kicks, such as stitching colours, colour pallets and of course the overall brand of the shoe. After careful examination its time to choose a top. A couple tips for tops is to avoid not being brand loyal (will be discussed further in the blog), and do not overuse the same colour to match. Example of not what to do for matching colours would be, wearing a pair of Volt Green Off-White Airforce 1s with a neon yellow colour shirt and then adding on with more yellow looking accessories.
When styling yourself for the streetwear culture you must be conscious on what you wear. You should aim to get the streetwear outfit without am abundance amount of logos. For example, you do not want to wear Supreme pieces with their logo from head to toe. Moreover, when using brand names one must always be considerate about what brands you are putting on. As a fashionable person you would want to stick to one big name brand and be "brand loyal". Thus, you would not want to wear Nike shoes and then an Adidas hoodie or a Palace hoodie with their logo on it and a pair of pant that have Supreme written all over it.
Streetwear doesn't follow straight out rules. While it may seem full of rules after this read, true streetwear culture is about being yourself. You have to be yourself when it comes to styling no one knows you like you do. So, do not be afraid to put together some different clothing combinations, have fun with it!
